MADISON COUNTY – Residents can invest spare time to strike for a good cause when Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Alabama (BBBS) presents their “Bowl For Kids’ Sake” fundraiser.

Big Brothers Big Sisters has scheduled their annual fundraiser on two dates: Oct. 10 at Madison Bowling Center at 8661 U.S. 72 and Oct. 17 at Plamor Lanes at 2404 Leeman Ferry Road in Huntsville. Bowlers will come in two shifts, noon to 2 p.m. and then from 2 to 4 p.m.

“Come join us for Bowl For Kids’ Sake. This football-themed event will have tailgating food, door prizes and raffle prizes,” Lindsey Parker said. Parker, a VISTA employee, serves as special events coordinator for BBBS.

“Come dressed to support your favorite sports team and bowl with us. We’ll have bowling for all ages and skill levels,” Parker said. Individuals who raise the most money for the children of BBBS will be awarded prizes.

Registration is $30 per bowler. “We encourage our bowlers to raise as much money as possible for BBBS of North Alabama,” Parker said.

The bowling event is the signature fundraiser for BBBS. “Each year, half a million people across America come together to have fun and raise money to support BBBS as we change how children grow up,” Parker said.

Parker believes Bowl For Kids’ Sake “is the perfect way for individuals to make an impact on our community. It only takes a little bit of effort to raise the money that is vital to our program’s success.”

Individuals can volunteer as a team captain, and companies or groups can serve as a corporate sponsor. To learn about these opportunities, call Rebekah Schmidt at 256-880-2123 or email to rschmidt@bbbsna.org.

BBBS of North Alabama’s office address is 701 Andrew Jackson Way in Huntsville. For more information and to register a team, call 256-880-2123 or visit bbbsna.org or Facebook/bbbsna.
