Bob Jones names Srikakolapu valedictorian, Tian salutatorian

MADISON – For the Class of 2015 at Bob Jones High School, Siddharth ‘Siddhu’ Srikakolapu is valedictorian, and Tina Tian is salutatorian.

Srikakolapu, 17, has lived in Madison for 15 years. “My parents moved from India to work for a local software company,” he said.

He accomplished a GPA of 5.17 (unweighted 4.0). On the ACT, he scored a near-perfect 35. Srikakolapu is a National Merit Finalist with Emerson Electric Company’s scholarship and Advanced-Placement (AP) National Scholar.

An Eagle Scout, Srikakolapu was All-State Percussionist and Alabama Music Teacher’s Association’s state-level winner for piano. He received Legacy Environmental Awareness and Herff Jones scholarships.

Srikakolapu co-founded the Presidents’ Council; was president of Ambassadors, Social Studies National Honor Society and Technology Student Association; EnviroBowl captain; Student Government board member; and soccer co-captain.

He volunteers with AshaKiran, interned at HudsonAlpha Institute of Biotechnology and researched at University of Alabama in Huntsville. Siddhu’s parents are Krishna and Sudha Srikakolapu.

Siddhu will enter the Early Medical School Acceptance Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). He received the UAB Presidential and Engineering scholarships. He will major in either neuroscience or biomedical engineering and pursue a career in medicine.

Tian’s family moved to Madison from Kentucky when she was an infant. Her projected GPA is 5.15942. Her ACT score was 35, and SAT was 2290.

Tian was Math Team co-captain and vice president of Mu Alpha Theta, French Honor Society and Science National Honor Society.

A pianist and violinist, Tian performs with Huntsville Youth Orchestra. She won Omega Psi Phi ‘s state-level Talent Hunt, Bob Jones Talent Show and Alabama Music Teachers Association’s state-level contest for violin and piano.

Tian is a National Merit Finalist, AP Scholar with Distinction and U.S. Presidential Scholar candidate. Tian qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination.

In 2014 and 2015, Tian was regional Science Olympiad’s first-place winner for anatomy and physiology and second-place winner at state in 2015.

Tina’s parents are Guoqing Tian and Kanghong Li. Tina received UAB’s McCallum Presidential Scholarship and will study biomedical sciences at UAB on the pre-medicine track.
