Bradley, chamber to give ‘Top 10 Hot Topics for Employers’

MADISON – Conversations and interaction in the workplace can lead to many uncomfortable if not unacceptable situations. An upcoming session will offer suggestions to deal with difficult scenarios.

Madison Chamber of Commerce and the Bradley firm will present the session, “Top 10 Hot Topics for Employers,” on Oct. 9 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Holiday Inn Express & Suites at 8956 Madison Blvd. in Madison will host the event.

“Please join us for a lunch-and-learn event on Oct. 9 as labor employment attorney Harold Stephens presents on common danger zones that employers face in the workplace. The discussion will provide helpful processes and solutions,” Felecia Rodgers said. Rodgers works as Events and Marketing Coordinator for Madison Chamber of Commerce.

Topics for consideration will include the Family Medical Leave Act, “Termination Do’s and Don’ts,” Americans with Disabilities Act, employment discrimination claims, employee evaluations, sexual harassment and other circumstances.

Seating will be limited. To register, visit madisonalchamber.com, click “Hot 10 Hot Topics for Employers” in the “Check Out our Upcoming Events” list; in the new window, click “Register Now.” Participants will receive lunch.

The facilitator, Harold Stephens, began his career as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Birmingham. He has compiled 30-plus years of litigation experience in a wide array of civil cases.

A significant portion of Stephens’ practice is devoted to healthcare litigation. He regularly defends physicians in medical liability claims and has represented hospitals, nurses and other healthcare providers.

In numerous jury trials, Stephens has obtained defense verdicts for physicians in cases involving wrongful death claims. He has represented clients in business and commercial disputes, such as trade secret litigation, fraud and contract cases.

In 2015, The Best Lawyers in America named Stephens as Huntsville’s “Lawyer of the Year” for Commercial Litigation.

Madison Chamber of Commerce’s office address is 103 Spenryn Drive, Suite 100. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pam Honeycutt serves as Executive Director.
