MADISON – Residents can be one step closer to a beach vacation with “Brushes and Brews” at Blue Pants Brewery.

Blue Pants and Madison Arts Council (MAC) are partnering with MAC member artist Lisa Riccardi for the painting class on May 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. During the girls’-night-out session, participants will paint a sandy beach with a lounge chair perched under a palm tree.

The class will be held Blue Pants Brewery, located at 500 Lanier Road.

Tickets are $30. Seating is limited. Ticket purchase includes all painting supplies, an 11-by-14 canvas, one glass of Blue Pants’ locally brewed craft beer and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Madison brewery.

Tickets for Brushes and Brews are available at artsmadison.org/brushes-and-brews.

Riccardi originally is from upstate New York but lived most of her life in South Florida. “This explains all of the water, fish and palm trees in my paintings,” Riccardi said. She attributes her art teacher in high school for instilling a passion for painting. She primarily works with oils and acrylics, along with pencil, pen & ink and clay.

Riccardi teaches individual lessons and group classes in drawing and painting for both adults and children at any experience levels. For information, visit lisariccardistudios.com.

Blue Pants Brewery takes traditional beer flavors and spins off the recipes to create something new, all named with puns for ‘pants.’ Knickerbocker Red, Corduroy Rye, Breeches and Highwater Hoppy Tripel are a few of their brews. For more information, visit bluepantsbrew.com.

In its other projects, MAC sponsors the Madison Gazebo Concerts in historic downtown from May through August. The concerts are free and start at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays. In 2012, MAC collaborated with The Arts Council of Huntsville to expand the SPACES Sculpture Trail and place eight sculptures in outdoor, public areas around Madison.
