MADISON COUNTY – CFD Research Corporation (CFDRC) has announced two major new gifts to the Community Foundation of Huntsville/Madison County and Habitat for Humanity.

CFD Research Corporation is contributing $100,000 to the Community Catalyst Fund at the Community Foundation. A new endowed fund, “The Community Catalyst Fund will provide a perpetual source of grants for improving quality of life in Huntsville and Madison County,” foundation CEO/president Stuart Obermann said.

In addition, CFD Research Corporation is contributing $50,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Madison County. Habitat is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing. (habitatmadisonco.org)

Habitat for Humanity of Madison County will use the contribution to purchase lots for house construction. “We are thrilled to have this generous gift that provides the groundwork for future families to reach their dreams of a better life through homeownership,” Habitat Executive Director Myra Sanderson said.

Each new family that Habitat approves must complete 350 “sweat equity hours,” including budgeting class and helping in home construction. “That way, we know we’re helping families become independent and strong with bright new futures,” Sanderson said.

The catalyst fund “will empower the Community Foundation to make annual grants for the betterment of the community,” Obermann said. “All the principal from donations made to the Community Catalyst Fund will be preserved for generations to come — with only the income being distributed.”

CFD Research Corporation co-chairperson Sangeeta Singhal said the company “loves Huntsville. Together with the leadership team and employee family of CFDRC, we were searching for a way to make a lasting impact. We know that the gift to the Community Catalyst Fund will continue to support our home area for decades to come.”

Located in Cummings Research Park, CFDRC develops cutting-edge technologies with highly competitive federal contracts and adapts and commercializes products for both defense and civil applications. CFDRC has a 27-year legacy of serving U.S. federal agencies and industry. (cfdrc.com)
