MADISON – The Huntsville-Madison County Library Foundation will present award-winning author, Christina Baker Kline, as guest of honor and keynote speaker for the 37th annual “Vive le Livre.”

The foundation’s gala celebrates books, authors and all facets of the library. All proceeds from the fundraising event, which translates as “Long Live the Book,” will benefit the 10 branches of the Huntsville-Madison County Public Library.

Vive le Livre’s venue will be the Jackson Center, 6001 Moquin Drive in Huntsville on Sept. 27. The event will open with a cocktail reception at 6 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and keynote address by Kline.

Kline is a “New York Times” Bestselling Author of eight novels, including “The Exiles,” “Orphan Train” and “A Piece of the World.” Published in more than 40 countries, Kline’s books frequently are taught in universities, colleges and high schools.

Her novels have received the “New England Prize for Fiction,” “Maine Literary Award” and a Barnes & Noble “Discover Award,” among other prizes. Hundreds of communities, universities and schools have chosen Kline’s work as “One Book, One Read” selections.

Her essays, articles and reviews have appeared in publications, such as “The New York Times” and its “Book Review,” “The Washington Post,” “The Boston Globe,” “The San Francisco Chronicle,” “LitHub,” “Psychology Today” and “Slate.”

Born in Cambridge, England, Kline was raised there, along with the southern United States and Maine. She is a graduate of Yale University, Cambridge University and University of Virginia, where she earned the status of Henry Hoyns Fellow in Fiction Writing.

She has taught fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, English literature, literary theory, and women’s studies at Yale, New York University and UV. Kline received several Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation Fellowships and Writer-in-Residence Fellowships at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.

Kline lives in New York City and southwest Harbor, Maine with her husband, David Kline. The Klines are parents of sons Hayden, Will and Eli.
