James Clemens JETSpress earns accolades at All American Film Festival

MADISON – Media students in JETSpress at James Clemens High School claimed 17 awards at the All American High School Film Festival.

JETSpress students describe their work as “the innovators that make up the journalism class taught at James Clemens. We are committed to breaking barriers. We are students thinking globally, reporting locally.” JETSpress study involves print and digital media.

The All American High School Film Festival, the world’s largest film festival for high-school students, accepted 17 videography submissions from James Clemens. The Madison students qualified to join their peers from around the world for the 2022 festival in New York City.

JETSpress submitted diverse entries from complementary sources:

* Brody Millsaps — “The Puppet Minister,” Animation.

* Zaiden Langford — “Quincy Bowie and Zack Williams,” Feature Story in Broadcast Journalism.

* Kristin Martin — “Shifted,” Documentary.

* Quincy Bowie — “Why Aren’t We Bilingual,” Documentary.

* Shylah Stewart – “Mystery Flavor,” Drama.

* Quincy Bowie — “Sonder,” Drama.

* Xander Penot — “Prototype,” Experimental.

* Ashley Desarro — “Spent Time,” Experimental.

* Maby De La Hoz and Jimi Eso – “Endless,” Micro-Movie.

* Connor Douglass — “For the Picture,” Micro-Movie.

* Quincy Bowie — “I Don’t Mind,” Music Video.

* Zach Williams — “Thank You,” Music Video.

* Connor Douglass — “Washing Machine Heart,” Music Video.

* Jimi Eso – “Open,” PSA.

* Santiago Castillo — “Secrets Within,” PSA.

Clay Combs mentors these James Clemens students and teaches introduction to TV production, photography and advanced TV production (JETSpress).

Combs graduated from Bob Jones High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in English with secondary and middle school certification from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He taught at Liberty Middle School before assuming his teacher duties at James Clemens.

While in New York City, the James Clemens students will screen their innovative creations, learn from top industry professionals, connect with the latest technology, explore higher-education options and receive scholarships, along with creating a community of lifelong relationships.
