Medical facility rising on Hughes Road

Crestwood-Madison at 20 Hughes Road.

A building project at 20 Hughes Road will bring new medical care to the community.

Capital Growth MedVest of Birmingham is owner and developer of the facility named “Crestwood – Madison.” Hughes Road Medical LLC also is involved with the project.

Near the intersection of Hughes Road and Madison Boulevard, the two-story structure covers 28,000 square foot and will feature a covered drop-off for patients at the front entrance.

Crestwood Diagnostic Center will occupy one suite on the first floor. In a second-floor suite, Crestwood Sleep Center will provide a six-bed sleep disorder clinic.

The building also will house General Surgical Associates with Dr. Peter Wilson, day offices for physicians associated with Madison Surgery Center and Huntsville Reproductive Medicine with Dr. Andrew Harper.

O’Neill Properties, based in Huntsville, brought the project concept to MedVest.

“We’re happy to be in Madison,” Kathy Brewer said. She works as managing director of development for Capital Growth MedVest. “I manage the project to see that it stays on budget and within the schedule.”

“Crestwood areas of the facility will provide computed tomography (CT) scans, ultrasound, X-ray and laboratory services,” Crestwood director of public relations Lori Light said. “Crestwood’s digital mammography will be the only facility in Madison providing mammography services.”

MedVest will improve the northbound lanes of Hughes Road with a westbound turn lane to reach Crestwood – Madison.

Hoar Construction in Birmingham is contractor. SKT Architects PC in Huntsville is providing architectural services.

Construction started weeks ago. “We already have steel in the air,” Brewer said. The slab was poured around July 18.

“We do have one vacancy, which could be two small offices and or one large space,” Brewer said.

Brewer estimates construction will be complete in January 2013. “We are also in preliminary discussion with other physicians to build another medical office building as a mirror image of the first building after it is completed,” Brewer said.

Crestwood Medical Center’s address is One Hospital Drive in Huntsville. For information, call 256-429-4561 or visit crestwoodmedcenter.com.
