Landreth trains, prepares Navy CTTs to defend America
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Petty Officer 1st Class Damian Landreth, a Decatur native, is stationed with a command responsible for teaching required skills to information warfare warriors in the future to defend America around the world.
Landreth works as a cryptologic technician or CTT and operates as training manager for CTT “A” and “F” school courses at the Center for Information Warfare Training or CIWT. The center is onboard Naval Air Station Pensacola, Corry Station, Fla.
Landreth has served in the Navy for 12 years of active duty. He joined in 2007 and has been stationed at CIWT for three years.
A Navy CTT Sailor collects and processes of airborne, shipborne and land-based signals. They operate systems that receive electronic intelligence, digital recording devices and analysis terminals and associated computer equipment across the fleet.
“Our CIWT Sailors truly are the best of the best, and Petty Officer Landreth is a superb example of the outstanding sailors serving in today’s Navy,” CIWT Command Master Chief Francisco Vargas said.
“The work I do directly affects first-accession sailors heading to the fleet, as well as seasoned sailors returning to our commands,” Landreth said.
“My favorite course I work on is the Joint Tactical Terminal-Maritime course. It was the first course I took over when I checked into CIWT,” Landreth said.
“I took three separate, outdated courses and combined them into one single course,” Landreth said. “It’s great to read all the feedback from students saying how good of a course it is and how much better it is than the older courses.”
Along with being a training manager, Landreth plays a role in community involvement with Petty Officer’s Association.
As a POA with Navy Point Elementary School, Landreth has helped raise donations and funds for two years. They created a school backpack drive to provide supplies to students and teachers.
The Navy Office of Community Outreach or NAVCO produced this information and photograph. Petty Officer 3rd Class Neo Greene documented Landreth’s work.
