MADISON – Madison Police Department has arrested two local residents on charges of dealing drugs.

On July 16, Madison narcotics detectives served a search warrant at a home on Ketchum Way in Madison. Detectives recovered a quantity of the powerful opiate, Fentanyl.

Madison police officers charged 21-year-old Issac Jeffrey Davis with distribution of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police transported Davis to Madison County Jail. He has a $13,000 bond.

Harley Cheyenne Aldredge, who is 20 years old, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was taken to Madison County Jail with a $3,000 bond.

The prescription drug Fentanyl is a powerful opiate that doctors often prescribe in hospitals to patients who are recovering from surgery or suffering from a terminal illness. If the drug is not administered properly, Fentanyl can be lethal in very small doses.

Fentanyl also is absorbed through the skin by touch. The drug is extremely addictive.

Drug dealers have been known to mix Fentanyl with heroin so that their customers become more addicted to their product, the police department stated. Law enforcement agencies across the country have seen a dramatic resurgence in heroin, along with deaths related to heroin/Fentanyl overdose.

Thus far in 2016, Madison Police Department has responded to five in-home deaths believed to be related to heroin overdose. All of the victims have been white males who were in their 20s.

Due to the danger of Fentanyl and other drugs being absorbed through the skin, Madison Police Department urges citizens who may find what they believe to be illegal narcotics, especially in powder form, to not touch the packaging and call police immediately.

Madison Police Department’s headquarters are in City Hall, 100 Hughes Road. In case of emergency, call 911. For situations that aren’t emergencies, call 256-772-5658.
