Christian Women’s Job Corps plans for fall classes

MADISON – How can a woman change her life for the better in just 10 weeks? Christian Women’s Job Corps of Madison County, Ala. Inc. may have the answer.

The job corps now is accepting applications for the fall 2019 semester. The classes and related programs are completely free to participants.

“Christian Women’s Job Corps will meet you right where you are, and we will walk with you to help you reach your potential and find a meaningful career,” Susan Elder said. Elder serves as Site Coordinator for the Asbury Church location in Harvest.

The corps delivers hope through life and career skills. “We offer women the opportunity to improve their situation. We deliver hope through skills, completely free,” Elder said.

A student with Christian Women’s Job Corps has access to job training, GED tutoring, computer classes and appropriate clothing for interviews. Students who graduate are eligible to apply for a donated car or computer.

For the fall semester, the corps site at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 2511 Winchester Road in Huntsville will offer 12 weeks of classes on Monday and Thursday. Classes run from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Orientation and first day of class at Union Hill will be Sept. 12. Applications are due by Aug. 29.

Classes will start at First Baptist Church of Huntsville, 600 Governors Drive, on Sept. 3. Students will attend 10 weeks of classes on Tuesday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Orientation will be held on Aug. 29. Application deadline is Aug. 14.

Also at First Baptist Church of Huntsville, students can study for the GED. Students will report to class for 10 weeks on Monday through Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

GED students will attend orientation on Aug. 29 and first day of class on Sept. 3. Applications are due by Aug. 14.

Christian Women’s Job Corps also has a class site at Asbury Church in Harvest, 8089 Wall Triana. Students will meet for 10 weeks on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Applications at Asbury Church are due by Aug. 21. Orientation is schedule for Sept. 4, followed by the first day of class on Sept. 10.
