Liberty Learning Foundation returning to Madison students

MADISON – The Next Great Americans Bus Tour is returning to motivate youngsters with its Super Citizen Program, a curriculum available with Liberty Learning Foundation.

Bob Jones High School will host elementary students for the kickoff in Zompa Auditorium on Jan. 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. Students will attend from Columbia, Heritage, Horizon, Madison elementary, Mill Creek, Rainbow and West Madison elementary schools.

Liberty Learning Foundation provides civic education programs and live experiences that improve children’s understanding. The foundation offers groundbreaking resources, trains teachers, mobilizes volunteers and orchestrates emotionally charged events to teach, inspire and empower the Next Great Americans. The Next Great Americans Bus Tour arrives at schools to put on high-energy educational performances to launch the Super Citizen Program in American schools. The 45-minute theatrical show features original music, a video presentation and an awe-inspiring show by ‘Libby Liberty.’

Libby Liberty is a costumed character that animates the Statue of Liberty and introduces students to the program that they will begin when the bus leaves. With the curriculum described as “Made Awesome,” the Super Citizen Program engages students in learning crucial lessons in civics, character, financial responsibility and career building.

The foundation uses grants and donations to donate free tool kits to teachers in classrooms for grades 1-5 and to present powerful performances that increase understanding and retention of concepts.

In years past, Madison City Council has endorsed Liberty Learning Foundation with an annual appropriation.

In the Torch Teams unit of the Super Citizen Program, students and teachers work together to explore the character and actions of everyday heroes in their own communities. These teams use career-building concepts and entrepreneur skills to raise money to purchase authentic Liberty replicas, which they present to their heroes on stage at graduation.

The motto of Torch Teams is “When you honor a hero, you become a hero.”

Liberty Learning Foundation is proud to have its Super Citizen Program events accepted as part of ALABAMA 200 festivities.
