MADISON – Gruesome ghouls and macabre monsters will greet guests with bone-chilling scares at Mad Al’s House of Horrors.
Opening night will be Oct. 7 from 7 p.m. until midnight at Insanity Complex, 100 Skate Park Drive in Madison. Mad Al’s then will be open on Friday and Saturday evenings through Oct. 29 from 7 p.m. until midnight, along with Oct. 30 and Halloween from 6 to 9 p.m.
“Mad Al’s House of Horrors is North Alabama’s best haunted house,” Gayle Milam said. “With more than 20 wicked scenes, this haunted house is sure to make you scream!” Milam works as Event and Volunteer Coordinator for the City of Madison.
“There are (practically) no Haunted Houses in the area anymore. People look forward to October just to visit haunted attractions,” Milam said.
Mad Al’s will be truly scary and is not rated “G” for kids. For the youngsters, Milam suggests attending Madison’s “Insane Nightmare on Skate Street,” the town’s signature Halloween event for children on October 31 at Insanity Complex.
In Mad Al’s, the ghastly, horrific scenes will include the Haunted Corn Maze (did you see “Children of the Corn”); an insane asylum; a haunted cemetery; a grisly butcher shop (Will Leatherface attend?); a decrepit prison cell; and an eerie electrocution room.
“As always, we’ll have clowns galore,” Milam said.
Most scenes will be staged inside Insanity Complex; however, one maniacal scene will scare the daring attendees in an outside setup. Visitors do not need to come in costume and can dress in regular street clothing.
“We are currently looking for volunteers to be characters, serve as guides and more,” Milam said. If interested, call 256-772-2557 or email gayle.milam@madisonal.gov.
Proceeds from Mad Al’s House of Horrors will benefit clubs and organizations in Madison City Schools represented by people who volunteer to play characters. These groups will receive a percentage of ticket sales for the night when they volunteer.
Admission is $15. For more information, visit Facebook/MadAl’sHouseofHorrors.
