MADISON – People will be cheering for the opening of Madison Athletic Xtreme (MAX).
Initially, MAX will offer classes for all-star cheerleading, tumbling, stunting and cheer skills. Mommy-and-me and fitness classes will be available soon.
Owners Cody and Mallory Schrock will open MAX on April 8 at 500 Lanier Road, Suite C. MAX accommodates three- through 18-year-olds, along with toddler and adult classes. Tryouts will be held April 22-24 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The new facility covers 7,500 square feet with high ceilings, ideal for cheer stunting. The gym is filled wall to wall with mats; two full-size, all-star springboard floors; trampoline; tumbling gear; pro shop and spectator seating.
Since 2005, Cody Schrock has been involved in all-star and school competition cheer. He has acquired five national coaching titles, six national competition titles and finished in 16th place at the 2012 United States All-Star Federation (USASF) world competition.
He has been involved with almost every North Alabama school team: Bob Jones, Sparkman, Buckhorn, Madison County, Johnson, Hazel Green, North Jackson and East Limestone high schools; Madison and Westminster academies; and Discovery, Monrovia, Sparkman and Liberty middle schools.
Schrock also works with James Clemens High School athletes.
Since attending Liberty and Bob Jones, Mallory Schrock has participated in competition cheer and was team captain. “She continued in the sport by becoming a Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) staff member in 2003. Mallory has traveled all over the United States and Australia, coordinating and running UCA competitive camps,” he said.
Accomplished in cheer choreography, Mallory Schrock holds national coaching and competition titles. She has choreographed and coached most North Alabama squads.
MAX and neighboring businesses will complement each other, Schrock said. MAX’s convenient location is in proximity to Madison schools and I-565.
Business hours are Monday-Friday from 2 to 9 p.m.; called classes on Saturday; and other sessions as needed. MAX is a locally owned company.
