MADISON – Madison residents can enjoy paintings, sculptures, instrumental music, singing, acting and fashion at Madison City Schools Spring Fine Arts Gala on April 30.
Bob Jones High School will host the annual arts show in and adjacent to Zompa Auditorium and the gym. Guests can arrive as early as 4 p.m.
Artwork by children in Madison elementary schools will be on exhibit in ‘clothesline galleries’ in the gym. “Art by Discovery Middle School and Bob Jones students will hang in the new Bob Jones Commons areas, both upstairs and downstairs,” gala coordinator and Bob Jones art teacher Robin Lakso said.
Art exhibits will be open from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
The gala “celebrates the fine arts programs and students in Madison City Schools and will showcase student work important on many levels,” Lakso said. “Students love to share the work they have created with family and friends.”
Kristy Wheeler’s fashion students will share their designs. Some students will model their work.
Chorus groups from elementary schools will begin their performances in the lower commons at 4 p.m. The Madison City Elementary Honor Chorus will perform on the stage in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m.
The Bob Jones Indoor Drumline will present its award-winning 2015 show, “One Way or Another,” in the auxiliary gym at 6 p.m. Using Blondie’s song from the 1980s for its title, the show contrasts opposites, like monochrome versus color, solo versus ensemble, strict style versus swing style. Bob Jones Winter Guard also will entertain the audience.
Bob Jones PTSA will meet in the auditorium at 7:15 p.m. The Bob Jones Concert Band, Wind Ensemble and Chorus will perform at 7:30 p.m. on stage.
“Please join us for an evening of music and art at the newly renovated Bob Jones High School,” Lakso said.
