Sheriff’s admin, pistol office moves

MADISON – The administrative and pistol permit office for the Madison County Sheriff has moved to a different building at 603 Fiber St. in Huntsville.

Fiber Street is located between Huntsville Police Department headquarters and the sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division off Wheeler Ave. Motorists can access Wheeler Ave. one-half block south of University Drive off the Memorial Parkway service road or also by Church Street.

The new office is adjacent to Madison County Jail. The one-story building has tan brick building with a blue roof. Free parking is available by following the signs to the new location.

The office will be open Monday through Friday (except designated holidays) from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Pistol permit pickup is no longer available at Madison County Courthouse. To apply for a permit, visit madisoncountysheriffal.org and click the “Pistol Permit” tab on the left; follow the link to the online application.

The permit will be issued within 30 days after authorities successfully complete a required background check. Individual must apply online for all new or renewal permits. Renewals are no longer accepted at the sheriff’s office or by mail.
