MADISON – With her Clothing for Confidence drive, Madison Rolling is determined that all students returning to the classroom in August will have decent, stylish clothing for campus.

Rolling founded Clothing for Confidence in 2013 while a student at Bob Jones High School. She’s continuing the momentum for her idea, although she’s now a junior at Auburn University studying industrial and systems engineering.

New and barely used clothing will be collected until July 17. “Our goal is to provide clothes for children in grades K-12 and instill confidence through clothing,” Rolling said.

Donation boxes are available at Madison City Hall, Dublin Park, Madison Public Library, Madison Chamber of Commerce and Inside-Out Ministries.

Clothing for Confidence will accept any new and barely used shirts, shoes, dresses, pants, jackets and accessories. “Many people have those clothing items hanging in their closets for months with no wear. It’s so easy to clean out your closet. That’s the type of clothing we strive for,” Rolling said.

Shopping day will be July 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. “Anyone in financial need can come to Inside-Out Ministries at 103 Gin Oaks Court in Madison and shop for an outfit for the first day of school,” Rolling said. “We’re so blessed to have Inside-Out as a partner.”

Girls and boys can buy as many items as they want.

In sponsoring Clothing for Confidence, Rolling has learned “to focus on the people we can impact. It’s always easy to worry about details, but it truly just comes down to serving people. The Lord always lets the details fall together.”

Publicity has been the most difficult task. “It takes time, effort and patience. We’re so blessed to have different media outlets help us in spreading the word,” Rolling said.

“When people believe in our mission and help us get the word out, so many people can be reached,” she said.
