Senior Spotlight — Michael Joseph McGinley
MADISON – Michael Joseph McGinley is a senior at Bob Jones High School.
McGinley’s favorite subject at school is art. “I like creating things,” he said.
“I was awarded six Gold Keys and one Silver Key in the Southeastern Regionals for Drawing with Scholastic, as well as a National Silver Medal with Distinction on my art portfolio,” McGinley said.
“Throughout my high school years, I have also won a State Superintendent Award twice, various awards, as well as Best of Show at the high school art exposition at the University of Alabama in Huntsville,” McGinley said.
At Bob Jones, McGinley participated in the Film and Animation Club.
His parents are Robert and Tracie McGinley. Michael’s brothers are Robert, 19, Daniel, 14, and Charlie, 12.
Michael expressed appreciation for help from art teacher Robin Lakso. “Without her, I wouldn’t be where I am. I didn’t even get art on my schedule my first semester, but she made it happen. I’m already missing Ms. Lakso and everything she has done for me throughout my years at Bob Jones,” he said.
In college, Michael wants to study illustration, most likely at UAH.
