At library, Cross to reveal new book, pro writing inroads

MADISON – A local author will give a dual-purpose session at Madison Public Library about her latest book and professional writing.

Georgina Cross will discuss her work, “My Perfect Husband,” along with a session, “Turning Pro” about elevating writing to a professional level. The library program on July 30 will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Cross, a mystery and suspense author, will give a summary of “My Perfect Husband” and reveal the inspiration behind some hidden photographs and fun with the New Orleans setting (“So many secrets!” she said.)

In the book, Lauren’s younger sister, Ellie, goes missing while they are enrolled in college. Twelve years later, Ellie’s body is found in New Orleans in an abandoned home with no clue about what happened to her. However, when they check Ellie’s pockets, they find photographs of Ellie sitting with two men. One of the men happens to be Lauren’s husband, Cross said.

“Did Alex meet Lauren by chance? Or, did he purposely seek her out to distract her from the investigation? With everything in Lauren’s marriage now coming into question, Lauren must not only find out what happened to her sister, but she must also learn more about the man she agreed to marry and invited into her bed,” Cross said.

Cross then will present her first-ever workshop, “Turning Pro,” that will include her tips about the writing industry. She will explain ways to get started in the profession and possible ways to become published, along with the mindset that she has adopted on becoming a published author.

“For those who attend who are interested in writing and publishing a book, I plan to share what I know and tips for encouraging them to finish their manuscript,” she said. “I’m considering launching a monthly series of these workshops. Please join us, and I can get a better idea of interest.”

“Even if guests aren’t interested in writing, they are avid readers and booklovers so the talk will be most interesting,” she said.

As a full-time writer, Cross has published six books, and counting.

Cross wrote “One Night” and “Nanny Needed” (Bantam, Penguin Random House) and is the Amazon Best-Selling Author of “The Stepdaughter,” “My Perfect Husband,” “The Missing Woman” and “The Niece” (Bookouture, Hachette Publishing).

Georgina is a member of International Thriller Writers, Mystery Writers of America and Sisters in Crime. She and her husband David watch many basketball tournaments and enjoy time with their combined family of four sons.
