Homemaker group wins county award

Rainbow Mountain Homemakers club was awarded "Club of the Year."

The Rainbow Mountain Homemakers Club of Madison was awarded Club of the Year at the Madison County Homemakers and Community Leaders annual awards day.

The club beat out 11 other homemakers clubs in the county for the honor.

“To be chosen as Club of the Year, when everyone is doing so much else, is really an honor,” said Rainbow member Jill Stallcup.

The club sponsors educational programs, community outreach activities and makes donations to various groups throughout the year.

Also awarded from Rainbow Mountain was member Jonnie Azlin, who was named Outstanding Homemaker of the Year.

“Jonnie’s been a member more than 25 years, “Stallcup said, Rainbow member. “She has served on the county board as president along with other offices. She is very active in the club and county council.”

Stallcup described Azlin as someone who is always willing to help in the time of need and she is proud of Azlin on the accomplishment.
