Republicans to celebrate opening

In this busy political season, the Madison-Limestone Republican Party headquarters will hold a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Sept. 1, just a few days after municipal elections were held Tuesday.

Madison County Republicans and Limestone County Republicans teamed up to open a joint location in the Village Shoppes of Madison at 12100 County Line Road, Suite A1. The grand opening will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Limestone County Coordinator Alicia Liburdi said the purpose of the headquarters was to disseminate “information to the public about the candidates” and ensure “folks can register to vote.” The main focus of the headquarters is the presidential election in November.

This is the first joint headquarters the two groups have had. “We have partnered to have this headquarters be available to all the voters who are in between,” Liburdi said.

Liburdi said they picked the location on County Line Road because it is centrally located, easily accessible and is highly trafficked.

The grand opening will include a live performance by the Mountaintop Band, including band member Rep. Mike Ball, light refreshments and a raffle. Voter registration forms and information on voting will be available. Political items such as buttons and signs will be for sale.

The Madison-Limestone Republican Headquarters is already open, after a soft opening earlier this month. The headquarters is open Monday-Friday from 2-8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed Sundays and holidays, including Labor Day and Columbus Day. The headquarters will also be closed Oct. 6 for the Madison Street Festival, where volunteers will have a booth.

There is a Limestone Republican Party headquarters in Athens, and a Madison Republican Party headquarters in Huntsville is in the early stages of development, said Liburdi.

The Madison County Democratic Party headquarters is located at 2835 North Memorial Parkway in Huntsville. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
