MADISON – Organizers with SS Kids school supply ministry need volunteers to help on Aug. 2 at Rainbow Elementary School.

SS Kids is an interdenominational ministry that collects and distributes school supplies to about 400 needy children in the Madison area.

At a 10 a.m. session on Aug. 2, volunteers will unload the supplies from a truck and then count and sort the items by school and grade, SS Kids coordinator Gail J. LeCroy said.

Then at 3 p.m., individuals will stuff backpacks, load the school counselors’ vehicles, break down boxes and take trash to the dumpster.

Approximately 12 churches have donated money and volunteers for the SS Kids effort. In addition, several members of the Rotary Club of Madison volunteer each year.
