Malakasis plans book signing for “Tasia’s Table” at library

Tasia Malakasis, artisan cheese maker and owner of Belle Chevre fromagerie (cheese shop) in Elkmont, will host a book signing for “Tasia’s Table” at Madison Public Library.

Malakasis will visit Madison on Nov. 17 at 2 p.m. to promote her first book. The public is welcome to this free event.

“Tasia’s Table” compiles her favorite inspirations in the kitchen. “My life as a cheese maker, my Southern roots, as well as my Greek heritage, plus lots of my stories about how my passion for food and my path to becoming a cheese maker shaped my life,” Malakasis said. “It was an incredibly fun project.”

Madison Friends of the Library is sponsoring Malakasis’ visit. “We’re growing awareness and membership for the Madison Friends of the Library through Tasia’s book signing,” president Stephenie Walker said. All ‘Friends’ from library branches in Madison County are special guests “for going that extra mile in support of all the great programs

and services the library offers.”

This signing and tasting has a timely date for library patrons. “Guests can be inspired to entertain during the holidays with all the delicious recipes found in ‘Tasia’s Table,’ right before Thanksgiving,” Walker said. “Tasia is also a great speaker and gracious person. Her success story at Belle Chevre is fascinating. It’s always fun to hear about what she’s working on next.”

Malakasis has no secrets about her success. “I wrote about what I know and with the humor and frivolity that inspires me to play in the kitchen,” she said. Malakasis hopes this approach “resonates with men and women both young and old.”

At Belle Chevre fromagerie, Malakasis and staff handcraft fresh French style, goat’s milk cheeses (chevres). “All that have a playful, capricious air to them,” she said.

“We have been so fortunate to have been awarded the highest awards, accolades and praises from cheese experts around the world,” Malakasis said. She is a native of Huntsville.
