Salvation Army asks for leftover vacation items

MADISON COUNTY – The Salvation Army asks families to share their collection of hotel soaps and shampoo from summer vacation and travel.

“We need your help with homeless hygiene,” community relations coordinator Pamela Donald said. “The Salvation Army Emergency Shelter distributes homeless hygiene kits daily and accepts donated hygiene products. Items in travel size are preferred.”

A hygiene kit needs the following items: shower shoes like flip-flops; travel-sized soap, deodorant, shampoo, shaving cream and toothpaste; and toothbrushes, disposable razors and socks.

Anyone can take donations to 305 Seminole Drive in Huntsville from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Individuals who donate supplies will receive a tax-deductible receipt.

Civic groups, businesses and churches can consider donating these supplies as a community service project.

For more information, call 256-536-5576, ext. 14.
