Dream vacations materialize with “Wish Upon a Star”

Karen Sipps wants everyone to wish upon a star for a dream vacation.

With her business, Wish Upon A Star With Karen, Sipps works as an independent travel agent and Disney vacation specialist. “I provide my clients with everything they need — from when they leave their door to when they arrive home,” she said.

She not only books resort or ticket packages but also reserves dining, arranges for stroller deliveries and books limousine service.

In 2011, Sipps earned her “ears” in the Disney College of Knowledge. “I love what it stands for, Walt’s vision and how he always inspired people to dream bigger,” she said.

Her keys to success are being detail-oriented, good planning, organizing and listening. If a client wants a specific restaurant reservation or cruise ship stateroom, “you’ll lose them quickly if you book something that’s opposite of what they’re looking for,” Sipps said.

Clients visualize “an image in their head” for their vacation. “That’s what I create for them. That’s my goal. To take that image and re-create it in the flesh,” Sipps said.

“People tend to think of Disney as just for kids but that’s not the case. You can honeymoon at Disney World, take the kiddos to Disneyland, take the family to Aulani or teenagers to Ireland with Disney Destinations or even take a romantic Alaskan cruise,” she said.

Vacationers can book directly with Disney but won’t get Sipps’ knowledge of avoiding “CIH (Can I Have) syndrome with children, travelling with babies, multi-generation families” and relatives with special needs.

In addition, clients can call Sipps with any questions. “People never believe my services are free, because of how much I do for them, but they truly are.”

She and husband Gary are parents of twins, Nathan and Annabelle, who are kindergartners at Mill Creek Elementary School. Sipps is a member of Madison Chamber of Commerce.
