MADISON — Part of Madison’s Main Street will be closed, “weather-permitting,” according to the city’s website, beginning Sep. 2 for paving purposes. The paving is part of the Downtown Phase II Construction and is expected to last around two weeks.

The construction will close Main Street between Wise Street, the one-way adjacent to Cotton Gin Boutique, and the Norfolk Southern rail line intersection. Several businesses, including Bandito Burrito and Main Street Cafe, will have parking affected by the work.

“Customers can still park in the huge public lot behind us on Martin [Street],” said Crystal McBrayer of Whistle Stop Sweet Shop. “We’ll still be open Tuesday – Saturday from 10-5.”

Sidewalk entrances are available at Wise Street and Garner Street.
