The Web.com Tour will make a stop in Huntsville next yearas the professional golf organization announced the Huntsville Championship Tournament set for April, 2020 at The Ledges.

Professional Golf Returning To North Alabama

HUNTSVILLE- Professional golf will return to the immediate Huntsville area.

The Web.com Tour will host the next wave of PGA Tour stars beginning in 2020 as the professional golf tour announced a new tournament to be held at The Ledges in Huntsville April 20-26, 2020. The Huntsville Championship will feature 156 players competing for a $600,000 purse and has been set in place for a five-year agreement through 2024.

“The Web.com Tour tournament will further elevate Huntsville in the sports world, add more to the quality of life for our community and make a significant impact, both economically and philanthropically,” said Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle at the announcement of the golf tournament alongside Knight Eady, the full-service sports marketing and event management agency located in Birmingham.

The announcement marks the return of the Web.com Tour in the Huntsville since 1998 when the Alabama Classic concluded a five-year run at Cherokee Ridge Golf Course in nearby Union Grove.

At 1,582 feet, The Ledges sits on one the highest points in Huntsville overlooking all of Huntsville and Madison County and is regarded as one of the top rated courses in Alabama. Steve Denney, Co-Owner of The Ledges, said, “With the loyalty of our members and the talent of our staff, we are extremely proud and honored to play a role in bringing the Web.com Tour to our home in Huntsville.”

The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville will be the tournament’s featured charitable beneficiary as over the last nine years the organization has raised $15.8-million of charitable assets.

With 50 available PGA Tour cards for the following season on the line, the Web.com Tour is certainly the path to the PGA Tour. Some of today’s top players got their start on the Web.com Tour with many of them playing in the previous tournament held at Cherokee Ridge.

“This is an opportunity to see the next superstars of golf play right here in Huntsville,” added Mayor Battle.
