Madison Utilities suspending service interruptions for non-payment

MADISON – Madison Utilities said Monday they are joining a growing list of utility services suspending service interruptions for non-payment during the current COVID-19 crisis.

“Madison Utilities has no higher priority than the safety of our customers and employees. Due to the growing concern regarding the spread of COVID-19 and the efforts to reduce exposure to the virus which are forcing many residents to stay home for indefinite periods of time, Madison Utilities is temporarily suspending service interruptions (lock-offs) for non-payment until further notice,” a statement on Madison Utilities Facebook page read.

Customers are encouraged to make any payment, even if it is a partial payment, whenever possible. However, water service will not be disrupted during this time. Customers who know they will endure a hardship associated with actions taken to curtail the spread of COVID-19 should contact Madison Utilities as soon as possible to discuss their accounts.

Madison Utilities had previously closed their lobby, but said that payments can be made a number of ways which do not require face-to-face interactions. Options include payment via personal online banking/bill pay, bank draft, putting a payment in the night drop box, or, customers may also make payments (temporarily) via telephone by dialing 256-772-0253 and speaking with a customer service representative.
