James Clemens Indoor Track Team “Struts Their Stuff” At MLK Track Meet

BIRMINGHAM- The James Clemens track team “strutted it’s stuff” at the Martin Luther King Indoor Classic held at the CrossPlex in Birmingham. Among 54 teams from across Alabama, the Jets from James Clemens claimed seven medals finishes in the top three competitors.
Leading the way for the Jets was junior Luke Alverson who won both the 1,600-meter (4:16.78) and 3,200-meter (9:43.85) and senior Dylan Dryer who claimed the gold medal in the 800-meter race (1:56.87). Austin Abney took silver in the pole vault. The senior Jet posted a vault of 13-feet.
For the Lady Jets, junior sensation Kylie Gero grabbed first place in the 3,200-meter (11:49.46), Erihana Johnson, a ninth grader, raced to a second place finish in the 60-meter (7.77) and the 4×400 relay squad took third place for its bronze medal (4:24.24).
Next up for the indoor track season is the AHSAA 54th State Indoor Championship at the CrossPlex Feb. 1-2.
