Intern and learn with Fantasy Playhouse

HUNTSVILLE – Are you looking for a job in the fine arts? Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy may have the answer with internships.

These internships will be available during current sessions . . . the 63rd season for Fantasy Playhouse. “We accept applications at any point in the year,” Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theater & Academy said. Rodrick works as Marketing/Public Relations Manager for Fantasy Playhouse.

“We have professional opportunities for incoming or current students that include working with our Education, Production and Administrative Departments. Candidates must be 16 years or older. Theatre experience or training is a plus,” Rodrick said.

These internships are both paid and unpaid, depending on needs of the organization and intern. The staff also works with universities to confirm that the student receives class credit, when applicable.

To apply for a position, email a resume, cover letter and references to Jobs@FantasyPlayhouse.com. In the Subject line, type Internship.

Another option is joining the Royal Roster, a dedicated team who represents Fantasy Playhouse at public and private events. “Our Royal Roster team members (can) receive character-acting training, participate in parades and community events, work at private gigs and wear handpicked costumes from our renowned costume shop,” Rodrick said.

Fantasy Playhouse’s Magic Makers include local theatre directors and designers. “Magic Makers create great theatre experiences for our community, and Fantasy Playhouse is looking to expand our creative family to include new voices and perspectives,” Rodrick said.

“We believe kindness, inclusion, communication, curiosity and care should be the foundation of a creative process,” Rodrick said. “If these values align with your artistic practice, we want to work with you and support your creativity!”

Other available openings are teaching artists, which are paid positions. These individuals conduct educational programming and can be preschool specialists, performing arts specialists (stage, dance, music, film) and technical theatre specialists (costumes, lighting, sets and sound design, along with film and animation specialists).

“Teaching artists are considered 1099 contractors,” Rodrick said. They are part of the Education Department and teach various classes and age groups.

Fantasy Playhouse’s address is 3312 Long Ave. SW in Huntsville.
