MADISON – Madison Police Foundation coordinators have opened registration for 2014 Kids Camp.

“Kids Camp is an opportunity for children to learn about the Madison Police Department,” Officer Al Bryan said. Bryan works as special resource officer at Liberty Middle School.

“Kids will observe and receive law enforcement training from police officers. Kids will be divided into teams and will play games and compete with one another while learning about teamwork,” Bryan said.

Any rising sixth-grader in Madison City Schools, St. John the Baptist Catholic School or home school can attend.

Because of its popularity, Kids Camp will be held on three separate weeks. Children will attend a one-week session based on the school that they attend:

* June 9-13 — Madison, West Madison and Columbia elementary schools

* June 16-20 — Horizon and Heritage elementary schools and St. John’s Catholic School

* June 23-27 — Mill Creek and Rainbow elementary schools

Kids Camp will meet at Discovery Middle School from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Campers will bring a sack lunch. Water and soft drinks will be provided.

Registration forms are available at Madison Police Department at 100 Hughes Road, any Madison elementary school or online at madisonal.gov. Registration deadline is April 30.

Camp fee is $50, which offsets T-shirt and refreshment costs. For scholarship information, contact Madison Police Foundation.

“Parents and guardians should provide their child or children with a hat, sunscreen, towel and water bottle,” Bryan said. “Your child may get wet and dirty each day. Be prepared when picking them up.”
