Rocket Hatch launches Investor Day

HUNTSVILLE – Starting up and ‘incubating’ business ventures will dominate the discussions at “Investor Day,” sponsored by Rocket Hatch.

Investor Day will assemble investors and entrepreneurs from across the Southeast at The Davidson Center at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center on Sept. 10. Participants will discuss startup investment, interact with panels and engage in dynamic and fun “speed hatching” sessions, Rocket Hatch founder and chairman Antonio Montoya said.

A ‘speed hatching’ session mimics ‘speed dating,’ but with brief introductions among business professionals.

“We were very deliberate to reach out to as many organizations and partners as possible to make this a very inclusive event. We’re very excited about the quality of the speakers and attendees that have committed to participate,” Montoya said.

Rocket Hatch will generate serious conversations on capital formation for high-growth startups in Alabama, Montoya said.

To-date, registered participants include Eric Grigorian, InCrowd Capital; Kristina Montague, Jump Fund; Larry Lewis, Biztech; Eric Dobson, Angel Capital Group; Weston Wamp, Lamp Post Group; Alex Lavidge, GIGTANK; and Chris Taylor, Fortnum Capital.

Other investment groups that will attend are AIM Group, Jumpstart Foundry, The Shoals Entrepreneur Center, Chattanooga Renaissance Fund and Angel Syndicates Central.

“It’s time to join forces and provide a more supportive environment for local entrepreneurs,” Grigorian said. “The Tennessee Valley has tremendous know-how across a multitude of disciplines, each complementing the overall regional startup ecosystem.”

Ending the day’s activities, a “Sip+Hatch” at the Biergarten at the Davidson Center will allow attendees to listen to experienced investors from the region.

Rocket Hatch sponsors monthly Sip+Hatch sessions to generate entrepreneurial dialogue among a cross-section of business people — artists, engineers, designers, lawyers, poets, cinematographers, beer-crafters and investors. (sipandhatch.rockethatch.org)
