Point Mallard water park to reduce hours because of ‘staffing challenges’

A popular North Alabama water park is having to reduce its hours due to staff shortages. The Point Mallard Aquatic Center in Deactur will reduce its schedule to five hours each day it’s open beginning Monday.
The park had opened at 10 a.m. every day except Sunday but it will now open at 1 p.m. The closing time will remain 6 p.m.
The reduction in hours was forced by “staffing challenges,” according to city spokeswoman Emily Stewart.
The park will be open only on weekends after next week before having its final day of operation for the season on Labor Day, Sept. 5.
A release from the city said Point Mallard season passes will still be fully redeemable for entry into the water park.
