FBI Citizens Academy to be held in Huntsville, application deadline Jan. 31

HUNTSVILLE – FBI Birmingham is holding its semi-annual Inside the FBI Citizens Academy class in Huntsville this spring. Candidate applications and nominations are due no later than January 31, 2024.

The Citizens Academy is an engaging six-to-eight-week program that gives business, religious, civic, and community leaders an inside look at the FBI. Classes meet in the evening at the FBI Birmingham field office in Huntsville, Alabama. The mission of the FBI Citizens Academy is to foster a greater understanding of the role of federal law enforcement in the community through frank discussion and education.

“This is a great opportunity to meet, hear, and learn from Birmingham Division Special Agents, analyst, and professional staff employees, who live, work, play, worship, and are part of the communities in which we serve,” said Special Agent in Charge Carlton Peeples.

Candidates are nominated by FBI employees, former Citizens Academy graduates, community leaders or self-nomination. Participants are selected by the special agent in charge of the local FBI field office. Class is schedule to start Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Deadline for applications and nominations is Wednesday, Jan. 31.
