A community bigger than cancer

From The Publisher

Cancer is a weed.

It grows where it is not wanted and is extremely difficult to eradicate.

Cancer tries to destroy everything good physically and emotionally in people.

This awful disease has touched many of us.

Cancer has found our family, friends, neighbors and co-workers.

The American Cancer Society offers a way for us to fight back locally.

Relay for Life Madison is scheduled for May 2 at Madison City Stadium.

Nick Sellers recently reported: “The community-based fundraising event, which will run from 4-10 p.m., raised $24,000 in Madison last year.”

This is an opportunity for our community to donate time and money to a very worthy cause.

Relay for Life Madison is a way for us to celebrate local survivors and the caregivers who support them.

The event also provides a time of remembrance for loved ones who lost their battle with cancer.

Relay for Life Madison makes a difference for so many people fighting against this deadly disease each year.

The funds raised are invested in groundbreaking research in every type of cancer. The donations also go to provide free information to cancer patients and their caregivers.

This is a family-friendly event, which offers many ways to support and celebrate our community members.

The Madison Record and Madison County Record would like to encourage each Relay Team to email their photo to news@madisoncountyrecord.com.

It will be our pleasure to publish these winning team photos.

We wish all participants the best of luck!
