Robert Arthur Martin, 90, of Madison passed away July 22.

Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his wife, Aileen Hardiman Martin; and parents, William Arthur “W.A.” Martin and Nellie R. Camper Martin. “Robert A” was a native of Madison and his ancestors were some of the first settlers of Madison in the early 1800s. Mr. Martin was retired from Redstone Arsenal and the Alabama National Guard 1169th Engineer Group. He proudly served in World War II with the Army Air Corp and the Korean War with the Alabama National Guard.

Survivors include his son, Randal Gregory Martin and wife Nancy; daughter, Judy Martin Toles and husband Michael, all of Madison; grandchildren, Robert Cole Martin of Huntsville, Grace Ann Toles and Micah Robin Toles, both of Madison, and Sarah Elizabeth Toles of Birmingham; special friend, Dorothy Jennette; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. today at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Jerry Taylor and Ben Donahue officiating. Interment will be at Huntsville Memory Gardens.
