OAKVILLE, ALA.- The James Clemens cross country program had another outstanding performance while participating in the 21^st annual Jesse Owens Cross Country Classic held in Oakville, Ala., which is one of the largest meets in the Southeast featuring participants from Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Mississippi.

The James Clemens girls took a third place trophy in varsity competition (5K) scoring 141 points while Father Ryan of Nashville was tops in the division with 101 points. There were 32 schools in all with 245 runners taking part. The Lady Jets had had one runner, Kristin Day finish among the top 15 with a time of 20 minutes, 08 seconds.

In the boy’s division, Father Ryan was again the winner scoring 51 points while Bob Jones came in tenth with 312 points and James Clemens at No. 11 with 403 points totaled. Matthew Hill, a James Clemens junior, finished eighth with a time of 16:41.03. Jean Pierre LeRoux, a senior at Bob Jones was ninth at 16:48.97. There were 41 schools with a total of 303 participants in the division.

In Boys Junior High, eighth grade phenome Dylan Dryer of James Clemens won the race (2.1-miles) with a time of 11:18.37 among 447 athletes representing 30 teams. Dryer’s time was a personal best and school record and he remains undefeated for the season in his races. Hewitt-Trussville was the division winner with 73 points while James Clemens was fourth with 116 and Bob Jones 16^th with 464.

In Girls Junior High, James Clemens was fourth (141) while Father Ryan was No. 1 with 101 points scored.

The Jesse Owens Cross Country Classic was held at the Oakville Indian Mounds Park.
