Two armed robberies hit Madison businesses within hours of each other

MADISON – Madison Police are continuing to investigate two armed robberies in the city last night.

A little after 6 p.m. Thursday evening, police reported an armed robbery at the Verizon store on Madison Blvd.

Authorities say a white male wearing a mask got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

This is the same store that was the target of an armed robbery last month.

On Sept. 16, officials say the store was robbed by two black males and a white male, all wearing dark clothes and a black female wearing a red hoodie. They held Verizon employees and a customer at gunpoint while they robbed the store.

Later last night, around 9:45 p.m., police reported they were investigating an armed robbery at Marco’s Pizza on Highway 72.

Madison Police say they were searching for a tall white male wearing a black mask and a black jacket.

It’s not known at this time whether the two crimes are connected or related to similar crimes in the area recently.

Madison Police spokesman Captain John Stringer said Friday morning they are pursuing all leads that have developed overnight and cooperating with area law enforcement partners.

“This is still an active investigation and no further information is available at this time to ensure the integrity of the investigation,” he said.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
