A proposed $8 million health care facility specializing in ambulatory surgery for Madison is a step closer to becoming a reality and a groundbreaking ceremony for the new center will be held soon.
Madison Surgery Center officials announced last year the new health care facility will be dedicated to ambulatory surgery. The center is comprised of more than 20 physicians at this time and additional physicians will join the project later.
Addressing residents at her recent Mayor's Town Hall meeting, Mayor Jan Wells said the surgery center is a reality and a groundbreaking ceremony will be held in the near future.
According to Richard P. Richardson, chairman of the board of Madison Surgery Center, the center is part of a more significant health care development for the city.
To add to the list of proposed new medical facilities in Madison. Crestwood Medical Center officials announced a proposal to build a 120-bed full service hospital in Madison.
Following his announcement of the proposed surgery center in Madison, Richardson said the center is a key component of a comprehensive health and medical complex in the city. He said the site selected for the center is located on Hughes Road. Richardson said there is enough land not only for Madison Surgery Center, but also a diagnostic center, a radiation therapy center, physician offices, urgent care services and others.
The new ambulatory surgery center will have between 16,000 to 20,000 square feet. The cost of the facility and equipment is estimated at $8 million.
Various types of ambulatory surgery will be offered including orthopedics, gynecology, pain management, ENT, EYE laser, gastroenterology, general surgery, radiation implants and others.
Madison Mayor Jan Wells said a groundbreaking ceremony for the new surgery center will be held soon.
