School report cards released

Students in Madison City Schools and Madison County Schools did better on their test scores during the 2001-2002 school year than the scores earned the year before.
State Superintendent Ed Richardson released the annual school-by-school, system-by-system report cards on five standardized tests.
Madison City Schools received an A-. Last year, the school system received a C+. Madison County Schools also improved by going from a B- to a B.
The report cards provide letter grades for dropout rates and career technical programs, for scores on the Standard Achievement Test, the Alabama Graduation Exam, and college admission tests. The grades are based on tests taken during the 2001-2002 school year.
Madison city and Madison County earned A's again for the number of students passing all portions of the graduation exam – reading, language, math and science.
Here is a breakdown of the grades based on the 2001-2002 school year.
