Discovery to host Destination Imagination tournament

By Staff
More than 200 middle school students, along with parents and friends from across the state, will converge on Discovery Middle School Saturday to participate in the Destination Imagination State Tournament.
This is the first time Discovery Middle School has hosted the annual event. Nearly 30 schools will be represented. The one-day event will take place between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 3:30 p.m. with local dignitaries expected to attend.
Students participating in the tournament will be competing in a number of "challenges" that stretches their imaginations in a variety of topics ranging in theatrical and technical elements. The tournament is designed for the students to work together as a team to find a solution to the challenge. The students will then have an eight-minute presentation.
Discovery Middle School will have five teams, with seven members per team, represented in the tournament.
