Mustangs roll over Ardmore in Homecoming

MADISON — There was a lot of celebrating at halftime and a lot at the end of the game Friday night for Madison Academy.

In their Homecoming game, the Mustangs scored first and never looked back in a 42-10 Region 8 win over Ardmore.

Luke Nail passed for three touchdowns for the Mustangs who remain unbeaten at 3-0 in Class 5A Region 8. They are 4-1 overall in their first year in 5A. Daniel Brent scored two rushing touchdowns and Evan Brooks had a pair of TD catches.

The Mustangs struck early when they took over on the Ardmore-22 after the Tigers attempted a fake punt. Avery Seaton scored from 4 yards out and the 7-0 lead.

After an Ardmore field goal cut the MA lead 7-3 late in the quarter, lightning in the form of Nail and Kyle Minor struck on a 60-yard catch-and-run touchdown pass and a 14-3 Mustangs lead with 40 seconds left in the quarter.

The two teams battled through the quarter until Nail and Brooks combined on a 20-yard TD pass with just 38 seconds left until intermission and a 21-3 MA lead.

The Mustangs ran the score to 28-3 when Nail hit Brooks on a 15-yard TD pass in the closing seconds of the third quarter.

Brent’s touchdowns came in the fourth quarter for Madison Academy to wrap up the scoring.
